I’d never really crafted with felt before these attempts and I have to say they were all pretty improvised (which you can probably tell by the pretty wonky sewing) but I was really chuffed with how these turned out.

The ONE Banner

I’d had this blank canvas banner laying around for almost a year. I brought it from The Works ages ago for a couple of pounds and knew I’d use it for something to hang in the nursery, I just didn’t know what. Well, fast forward to Leo’s Birthday and I figured I’d try and make this. I cut the various felt shapes and stuck them to the canvas. For certain pieces such as the snow top on the mountains I added a running stitch to hold them in place.

I was really pleased with how this one turned out, especially as our cats destroyed it the night before and tore off the pine cones!

The “1'“ Candle Topper

To make this candle topper I sewed two sides of felt fabric with cotton wadding in the centre, and a small but sturdy stick from the park.

The supercute animal hats are by Journey To Hygge on Etsy.

The Sun

To make the sun for our Birthday walk I brought two large squares of felt from the local craft store in the shades I wanted, cut a triangle out of a box from the kitchen and used it to cut 12 rays for the sun. I then stitched the felt together with a backing of natural cotton wadding. The lovely thing is that this can hang on Leo’s wall with his mountain mural until the next Birthday.

Have you done much crafting with felt? Any tips?
